Who we are

Show Me the Research is an independent project run from the Netherlands. We are the data controller for the data described here. For any privacy question, email info@showmetheresearch.com.

What we collect, and why

• Newsletter: if you sign up, we store your email address to send you our newsletter. We use double opt-in, so you confirm your subscription by email, and you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email. (Processor: MailerLite.)

• Questions & topic requests: if you send us a question or suggest a topic, we receive what you submit — your question and, if you choose to give it, your email — so we can reply or improve an answer.

• Analytics: we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly service, to see in aggregate how the site is used (for example which pages are visited), so we can improve it. Plausible is cookieless, does not track you across websites, and does not collect personal data that identifies you. Analytics data is processed within the EU.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Legal basis (GDPR)

• Newsletter: your consent.

• Analytics (Plausible): our legitimate interest in improving the site — no cookies or identifying personal data are used, so no consent is required.

• Questions and topic requests: your consent, and our legitimate interest in answering you.

• Server logs: our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning site.

Who we share it with

We only share data with the providers that help us run the site: MailerLite (newsletter), Plausible (privacy-friendly analytics) and our hosting provider. Some of these may process data outside the EU, including in the United States; where they do, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We never share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

• Questions and requests: as long as needed to handle them and improve our answers.

• Analytics: in aggregated form, in line with Google's retention settings.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time. To do any of this, email info@showmetheresearch.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

Cookies

A cookie is a small file stored on your device. This site is built to respect your privacy. We use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function (such as remembering studies you save). Our analytics is cookieless, and we set no tracking or advertising cookies — so we don't show a cookie consent banner. You can still block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Children

This site is written for parents and other adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above always shows the current version.
